Shashi Art

Every moment is an opportunity for an artist to be creative; the canvas is the vastness of the mind, the paints and brushes are the thoughts and the feelings which bring color to life. The whole picture is now called a work of art. I believe in the cosmic interplay of matter and energy, which has led to the creation of the Universe. These all pervading vibrations of energy, that affect all of us, have influenced me in their own way and are clearly visible in my work.

Shashi Thakur
Born in 1965, Shashi Thakur was initiated into the basics of formal art from Rani Durgawati University Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She completed her Post Graduation in Drawing and Painting in 1986 Her first solo show in 1987 - “Nari Saundarya”,on various aspects of womanhood, reflected her feelings and emotions as a young girl stepping out of college. The second solo show “Melody of Colours” in 2008 was a celebration of colours. The rising and falling lines in her paintings impart a sense of motion and flow. The opalescence of the sea waters caused by the scattering of light and its penetration into the deep oceanic waters stimulated her to further build up her own style of painting. “Jyotirgamay-"Towards Light”,show which is based on the play of light and motion at the National Art Gallery of Maldives reveals on canvas the impressions of the sea and sun and Maldivian social and cultural influences. "Sagar Manthan" the 4th and the 5th shows reveal the churning of the Ocean to reveal its stunning beauty and it's agony. In it's continuation 6th show was "The Silent Ocean" at Indian Caltural Center, Male' Maldives.
